Carter & Co. Communications is committed to giving young people interested in working in the Public Affairs/Public Relations field an opportunity for some real-life work experience. An internship at Carter & Co. Communications is a hands-on skill that will allow students to get credit and learn by doing.
The program is designed specifically for students and recent graduates who have an interest in public relations, strategic marketing and communications.
Day-to-day activities include:
Interns will learn about branding, crisis communications, E-marketing, media relations and publicity, opinion research and surveys and social media. Katie Campbell joined the Carter & Co. team in February 2015. She will graduate in May 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in mass communication and journalism with emphases in public relations and advertising at California State University, Fresno. She has had several internships in the public relations field, giving her experience writing news releases, editing, creating social media content and social media marketing campaigns and measuring social media analytics. Katie has interned at several Central Valley nonprofit organizations, including the Central California Women’s Conference, the Girl Scouts of Central California South and Clovis Unified. She has written several articles for various Central Valley newspapers as well. Katie’s love of writing will help create brand awareness for our clients.
Plamen joined the Carter & Co. team in 2014. Plamen was adopted at the age of 11 out of Bulgaria, which makes his perspective on life unique. He is a graphic designer eager to make his mark on the world by helping our clients tell their stories visually. Carter & Co. Communications offers him the ability to expand his experience in public affairs.
Colby recently joined the Carter & Co team to gain experience in the creative side of public relations. With a background of newspaper production and years of beat reporting, Colby aids in effective brand journalism and telling our client’s stories. Possessing a broad skillset, Colby aims to use multimedia, web design, and social media to help create innovative narratives for our clients. His degree in Digital Media allows him to apply a versatile and contemporary mindset to the world of public relations, with new media concepts and design. In his free time, Colby enjoys playing music at various venues throughout the Central Valley.
When she's not at work or school, she's leading the Jr. High youth group at her church. Maddy is an enthusiastic visionary, who fully believes in making things happen for yourself. Maddy is in her second year at Fresno State working towards a Communication degree with a certificate in Special Event Planning. In just a few years, you'll find her behind-the-scenes planning huge events like The Oscars and much more!
Chrisha is a senior at California State University, Fresno, expected to graduate with a Public Relations degree in Spring 2015. She strives to know all the ins and outs of the business, volunteering for various non-profit organizations and interning with radio and music production companies in addition to working with Carter & Co. Communications. Through these experiences, she has gained essential knowledge and skills in the Public Relations field. A dynamic spirit, Chrisha is also passionate about the arts and enjoys sculpting and singing in her spare time. She has even auditioned for NBC’s “The Voice” in 2013. Her love for the arts makes her an ideal representative for clients in entertainment-related industries.
An intern that is forty percent dreamer and sixty percent achiever; Theresa Riojas is a Central Valley native that is studying public relations and English at Fresno State. She aspires to be a publicist in the entertainment business and writes as a hobby. She is stuck in the wrong era and idolizes fashion, music and movies from the 1960s.
